My name is Garrett Meiers and I am the author of this site. I generally go by the nickname “The UNIX Guy” by most of my friends. I’m not “THE” Unix Guy, or pretend to be anywhere near as cool as some of the people who created UNIX.
Great people like Ken Thompson, Dennis Ritchie, Douglas Mcllroy, and Joe Ossanna. Thanks to these people, UNIX was born. Let’s not also forget the hundreds of thousands of people who have helped UNIX, and Linux, grow into what it is today.
So, while I am just a regular person, I have worked with UNIX for over 25 years. Early on, I have made UNIX my career path, and am very glad I have done so. I have worked with other operating systems such as VMS, OpenVMS, DOS, Novell, and Windows, but UNIX has always kept me interested above everything else!
It is my intentions with this website to share UNIX news, tips, tricks, and whatever tickles my fancy. My goal is to help newcomers or professionals, connected to the UNIX scene, broaden their UNIX and Linux knowledge.
Welcome.
